League of Legends Jax ASU: Everything we know so far

Here’s everything we know so far about Jax ASU

ASU, which stands for Art and Sustainability Update, is a new type of update that was added to League of Legends in 2021. As the name implies, it is simply a visual update for older champions with outdated models without changing their kit.

Caitlyn was LoL’s first ASU

Caitlyn was the first ASU to be released in the game. The update was such a huge success, Riot then released the Ahri ASU as a follow-up to the update. Then, Riot had announced three additional ASUs.

Jax, Lee Sin, and Teemo were the three ASUs announced. The Lee Sin and Teemo are set to be launched in 2024, while the Jax ASU will be available this year, according to Riot.

Jax was one of League’s first champions in the game’s early version in 2009. Riot Games stated in April 2023 that one of the game’s most recognized top laners, Jax, will receive some visual improvements.

Jax was scheduled to get a VGU from the first place. Riot, however, separated the update into two sections because to its scale. The first component of the update, the gameplay update, was released to live servers on Patch 13.1. Balance improvements, new ability icons, and updated graphics for his abilities were added in the gameplay update.

The visual aspect of the Jax rework was featured in the Dev Blog in April of this year. Riot also showed off some concept art for the Grandmaster. Since then, no new information was released, until the promotion of Arena happened.

Riot released a China-exclusive promotional clip for The “Arena” mode back then. However, they accidentally revealed the new model for Jax in the video.

At first sight, it appears to be quite similar to Riot’s concept art from a few months ago. The model is really sleek, and it looks to be a modern champion as opposed to what we presently have.

The model also seemed bulkier, his lantern also had a larger handle, making his total appearance even more alike of a Grandmaster at arms.

Aside than that, we don’t know much more about the Jax ASU. However, Riot stated that further information about the ASU would be released in September. Regarding the release date, we do not yet have a firm date. However, the update should be available on the PBE servers by late September or early October.
