League of Legends New Honor System Reworked

After much anticipation, Riot Games has finally reworked the Honor system in League of Legends.

League of Legends is a game that relies heavily on teamwork, meaning you will encounter a wide variety of players. Among them, unfortunately, are many toxic and disruptive individuals, especially in ranked game modes. These players can make the game less enjoyable for everyone, which is why Riot Games has been continuously working to reduce their impact.

In a recent update, patch 14.9, Riot introduced several behavioral changes to the game. These updates were designed to improve the experience for players who have to deal with disruptive teammates. These changes have been widely praised by the player base and have made ranked games more enjoyable overall.

In addition to these measures, Riot has also been focusing on encouraging positive behavior through the Honor system. The Honor system allows players to give recognition to a teammate after a match by giving them honor. This recognition comes with rewards such as key fragments, keys, emotes, and even champion skins.

Several years ago, Riot removed the ability to honor opponents. However, they are now reintroducing this feature with some additional changes. Here’s what’s new:

Honoring Opponents: You can now honor players on the opposing team, bringing back a feature that was last seen in 2017. This change allows you to acknowledge not only your teammates but also friendly or skilled opponents who made the game enjoyable.

Honoring Multiple Players: Riot has also introduced the ability to honor multiple players in the same lobby, though they have not yet specified how many players can be honored at once. This means you won’t have to choose just one player to recognize.

Improved Rewards: Riot is also updating the rewards associated with the Honor system. The current rewards have been criticized for not feeling particularly meaningful, so this rework will likely include more valuable and satisfying rewards, especially for players at lower honor levels.

While Riot has not yet confirmed the exact release date for these changes, they have assured players that the reworked Honor system will be coming soon. The decision to bring back the ability to honor opponents, which was originally removed to emphasize teamwork among teammates, is an interesting one.

In the past, players were encouraged to honor their teammates as a way to highlight good collaboration. However, this sometimes led to only the best-performing teammate being honored, while others who contributed in different ways were overlooked. The new system addresses this issue by allowing players to honor opponents they connected with during the game, as well as multiple teammates, broadening the scope of recognition.
