The Elemental Dragon mechanism had been around for a long time, but it wasn’t until season 10 that its role really came to prominence. If previously, Dragon only helped increase a few stats. Now, in addition to the stats received when eating Dragon becomes effective, the ability to change its map also gives players many interesting experiences.
Entering the pre-season 2020, the story of the Elemental Dragon became lively and became the talk of many LoL forums. Undeniably, the Elemental Dragon system is the dominant meta game at the moment, and since then, they have also become the inspiration for the gaming community to come up with unique and bright ideas create.
Recently, a gamer shared on Reddit his idea of the new Elemental Dragon – the Nocturnal Drake with a vision-related operating mechanism:
The buff you get when you defeat the Nocturnal Drake:
When slain, your trinkets’ cooldown is reduced by 10/20/25/30%. Your wards have an increased duration of 15/25/30/35%. For farsight wards, this is changed to give them 3 hit points instead of 1, but they are still visible.
Nocturnal Rift: Night has fallen! It’s getting quite hard to see things…
- Turrets’ true vision radius is reduced to 850 (down from 1095). Their attack range remains 775.
- Champions’ vision is reduced to 1050 (down from 1200).
- Abilities, runes, and items (but not trinkets) that give vision have their radius reduced by 25%, unless they only affect a single target, like Caitlyn’s R. If this would bring its radius below 1050 and the target is the casting champion, its radius will be 1050.
- If you are in a bush, your vision is reduced still from 1050 to 950.
- You will no longer have permanent vision of your base.
- Edit: To deal with assassins getting out of hand, if an enemy is nearby within 1500 units (not including bush and does not penetrate walls) the UI will turn red.
Simply put, Nocturnal Drake will not bring any additional stats to the player. But it does bring vision buffs to the allies while limiting the enemy’s ability to control the map.
In addition to buffs from Nocturnal Drake, the effects of Nocturnal Rift also cause combat discomfort, with a reduced vision and blind effect. Imagine having a smoke bomb from Graves or Teemo’s blind dart with just 3 normal attacks, which will be an extremely uncomfortable experience.
This was a highly prized idea, although it seemed that making vision changes would make Nocturnal Drake a more favored target than other Elemental Dragons. Some gamers think that the effect of the old Blood Moon Map is very suitable for this idea of Nocturnal Drake.
Elemental Dragons have been around for nearly 3 years, even if they were just edited in the pre-season 2020 version, the fact that there are only 4 dragon elements sometimes makes players bored.
So why don’t Riot Games continue to try and innovate with a new Elemental Dragon, like the Shadow Dragon? If so, that would be a great idea
