A Riot Games employee was banned from his League account because he used the word “Riot” in his username
It is fairly typical for the League community in North America to run into Riot employees while playing in either normal or solo queue. Besides creating new content for League of Legends, Riot Games staff themselves also directly play the game to understand the thoughts and objectives of gamers. However, in a big gaming community known as League, certain Rioters receive waves of attention from fans and players.
Specifically, yesterday on April 3, design lead on the Events/Skins/Eternals team for League of Legends, or Riot Rovient, shared on Twitter that he was forced to change his name by the game’s system.
The reason for this is because too many people dislike his name just because it contains the word ‘Riot’, despite the fact that Daniel is a longstanding employee of the company. Many players may have merely seen the name of the individual with the term Riot and opposed it.
Furthermore, according to Riot Rovient, there are a lot of players who are dissatisfied since he was on the pre-season design team, particularly with the extensive alteration to the itemization. If you recall, Riot Games entirely overhauled the item system in preseason 2021, which made many players unpleasant since they had to learn from the ground up. Riot Rovient may have been reposting so much since he was also participating in the operation.
Following the tweet, several more Rioters recounted their experiences with him when they were in the same situation. For now, Riot Rovient’s account may maintain its name in the game.
