Skin rental feature has long been rarely used, Riot Games need to upgrade or even completely remove this feature from League of Legends.
Hextech is a breakthrough of League of Legends as it helps gamers own skins without having to spend too much RP or use real money to buy. However, the skins rental feature is extremely useless compared to the rest of the options. The reason is extremely simple, when you really want an skins, no one wants to lose the piece of their favorite skins to use in 1 week at all.
A gamer has commented on a complete change of the mechanism for renting this skins, or worst of all, deleting it because it is both useless and heavier for the League of Legends client.
Let’s be honest, no one uses the skin shard rentals
When someone has a skin shard, why would they even consider consuming the shard to rent the skin for a week. If they like the skin they just consumed the shard of, now instead of getting it for free they would have to spend money, when instead they can just wait and break down other skin shards they know they wont like to get this skin for free.
I think making the rental needs to be changed altogether. One idea is that the rental can only last 24 hours but not consume the shard so they people can know for sure if they actually want to put the time and resources into unlocking the skin.
Realistically its just a pointless option that could be actually useful if it didn’t consume the shard.
Edit: well I guess this blew up, my intention wasnt to just complain, I would really like it if Riot tried to do something to make the rental actually usable or some sort of replacement/ way to test the skin other than looking at skin spotlight, which I dont think is even officially from riot, although he does a kickass job.
I polled r/leagueoflegends about a year ago.
32k votes, 31k said they’d never rented a skin.
And I probably never will. Think about it. Oh cool a skin I actually like, I’m gonna store essence for it then make it permanent. OR I can use it for a week then wait for another shard/pay real money
Who the fuck thought rentals are something people will use? If they wanna see a skin in action there’s YouTube
The idea of Riot Games is not that bad as this is a feature that allows players to try out new skins before actually buying it. However, the most ridiculous point of the skin rental is to force players to use that piece of skin to use the skin in 1 week.
If you really want an skins, you will use the resources to own permanently, otherwise, it will exchange for orange essence or turn to another skin, but no one will rent an skins.
