In January 2019, Li Qilin, CEO of Viva China Sports and CEO of Li-ning Group, confirmed the successful acquisition of the Snake Esports team. This is a confirmation for Li-ning Group to set foot in the e-sports industry. The founder of this group, Li Ning, is a famous gymnastics athlete with 3 Olympic gold medals and is called the Sports Prince. Li Qilin – Li Ning’s nephew is the direct person for the deal and represented Snake Esports at the opening ceremony of LPL Spring 2019.
Li Qilin has started playing computer games since he was 6 years old and is a loyal fan of League of Legends. He also promised to be there regularly in Chongqing to join the fans cheering on his home team.
With the huge amount of investment that Li-ning can afford, Snake Esports will truly innovate with strong financial resources, which will give them the incentive to focus on bigger goals in 2019 season.
On May 25th, the official launch of Snake Esports will officially take place after being owned by Li-Ning at Li-Ning headquarters in Beijing.
