After much anticipation, Riot Games has finally unveiled the 2024 ASU (Art and Sustainability Update) for Teemo, marking a significant visual overhaul for the beloved champion.
Riot has been gradually reworking older champions to update them for the current era. These reworks vary in scale, from complete VGU to smaller reworks and touch-ups. One of the more recent types of updates introduced by Riot is the ASU, or Art and Sustainability Update.
ASU is a type of rework where Riot focuses solely on revamping a champion’s visual appearance without altering their gameplay mechanics. Riot began implementing ASUs in 2021, and since then, they have completed three: Caitlyn, Ahri, and Lee Sin. When Riot announced Lee Sin’s ASU, they also teased that another beloved champion, Teemo, would be receiving a similar visual overhaul.
Teemo, who was one of the original champions released at League of Legends’ launch, holds a special place among the fanbase. However, after 15 years, Teemo’s visuals are noticeably outdated. His character model and animations don’t quite match the level of detail seen in newer champions. Riot recently revealed his ASU as part of their 2024 rework lineup, and it has been well received by fans.

One of the biggest improvements in the new ASU is his facial animations and expressions. In the past, Teemo’s character lacked dynamic facial movements, making his appearance feel static and emotionless.
With the ASU, Riot has introduced a wide range of exaggerated facial expressions that give Teemo a much more lively and charming personality. This adds a sweet and playful touch to the character that fits his mischievous nature.
The ASU for the little devil is set to go live on the servers with patch 14.20, which is scheduled to be released on October 9, 2024. Fans are eagerly awaiting the update, which will bring this iconic champion into the modern age.
