If you are a longtime League of Legends player, you will probably remember the 3v3 Twisted Treeline map. This is a place where 15 – 20 minute matches
Initially, this mode was created to help gamers who do not have time to play a Summoner’s Rift more than 30 minutes can have a short game but still traditional. However, with the strong development of a series of new game modes, Twisted Treeline has gradually forgotten. Only a few players remain attached to this mode, and Riot has decided to remove it from the Alliance later this year.
That means a lot of things will have to say goodbye to those who love this 3v3 mode, including Vilemaw.
Riot’s design director, Andrei “Meddler” van Roon mentioned the future of this poor giant homeless spider. Although there is no specific plan, but the possibility of Vilemaw will be transferred to a new game mode.
“Vilemaw can become a temporary monster that replaces Baron on Summoner’s Rift in certain situations, or it can be the last boss in the TFT, or the boss in a game mode … ”, Says Meddler. “This is a bit of a change we want to bring to our players in the preseason, or in the new federation, or some kind of event play mode … but generally not right now.”
Summoner’s Rift has become a warm home for many monsters, so it will be difficult for Vilemaw to live together. Most likely it will appear in TFT, in a round of machine combat, when players will have to fight monsters to collect items and gold.
Meddler said that this element will be built into the main pre-season editing phase.
And finally, along with goodbye to Twisted Treeline, players who have been attached to this mode and the giant spider Vilemaw will receive a gift of gratitude from Riot.
