League Patch 13.8: New Cosmic Drive Passive will fit in Mages more

In the next patch 13.8, Riot will slightly alter a popular AP item, Cosmic Drive

Riot has been determined to change the majority of items in League of Legends since preseason 2023. Cosmic Drive was one of the last things they updated.

It was initially intended to be a more damage and movement-focused AP item. However, it was underwhelming since other items provided more value. So, with patch 13.5, Riot tweaked the item.

Though this new Cosmic Drive was effective against specific champions, it was not a decent buy for most mages in general. The reason for this was because their skills had a long cooldown. So, Riot is changing Cosmic Drive’s passive in patch 13.8.

Riot Phroxzon later explained and provided further information on the adjustments. The main issue with most mages is their cooldown. Mages deal a lot of damage, but they’re squishy, and their ability has a long cooldown. They can’t use Cosmic Drive’s passive because to the long cooldown.

This item’s old passive was called Spelldance. After dealing damage in from 3 instances, the user gains 15% movement speed, which decays over two seconds. Additionally, that player would get 40 AP for 5 seconds.

As a result, the updated passive offers faster and more reliable stacking movement speed. When utilising Cosmic Drive, each damage delivered now grants the player stacks. They will acquire extra movement speed after a specific number of stacks. This new passive will be useful to the majority of mages.

These updates should be available on live servers with patch 13.8, which is set to be released on April 19, 2023.
