League’s plans for Top lane changes are still unclear

Riot is being prevented from multiple plans, making their Top lane changes unable to be shifted

The lead designer of the League of Legends balancing team stated a few months back that they were looking at making some adjustments to the top lane in the upcoming preseason, however it was disregarded in this road map and we received more information on jungle changes again.

If you’re a top-lane player, you’re undoubtedly frustrated with the status of the game right now. Riot made no mention of the anticipated adjustments in their latest Champions and Preseason video.

As a result, Riot Phrozxon took to Twitter to clarify why the changes were not addressed.

He continued by saying that the team is actively working for answers to the problems. The teams are having difficulty in making the changes more engaging since they do not want the top lane to become too complex, lose intuitiveness in the position, or have difficulty balancing it afterwards.

One suggestion was to use lane incentives. This would increase the importance of the lane as a vital lane to focus on in the future, but it might also make the game extremely top lane centered.

Other fans speculated that a mechanism for top and bot lane swapping may be added into the game, but these options all appear too difficult for low elo players.

So, while we didn’t receive an update in the most recent LoL update video, we do know that the balancing team is looking into it and evaluating which improvements to make so that top laners may have a pleasant time again when playing League of Legends.

For now, the date and time are still not available but they should be revealed in the near future.
