Liiv SANDBOX signs with former pro-player Ryu as a coach for their LCK roster

A well-known player from the League of Legends competitive circuit has joined Liiv SANDBOX‘s coaching team. The Korean company hired former professional mid-laner Ryu as their head coach for the LCK Challengers League earlier today.

Who is Ryu?

His memorable time in the LCK was with kt Rolster as a player who began his career in 2012 with StarTale. He spent the following five years of his career playing abroad, most notably with 100 Thieves in the LCS when his tenure with KT came to an end. After completing his compulsory military duty in Korea, he is currently making a comeback to the stage as a coach.

After almost three years, Ryu is finally performing again as a professional. In the LCS between 2017 and 2019, Ryu was a member of 100 Thieves, serving as both a player and an assistant coach during his tenure with the team. The 2016 season was the pinnacle of Ryu’s playing career, as he led H2K from the European LCS to the World Championship quarterfinals.

The group’s Challengers team is presently tied with T1 for the top spot in the LCK Challengers League. The LCK-level team of Liiv SANDBOX is now in third place in the league, one match behind T1 and Gen.G, two of the biggest names in the area.
