LoL Arena Game Mode to receive new Hexgates, Augments, Revive, and More

The highly anticipated return of the Arena game mode in League of Legends has been marked by Riot Games’ unveiling of several exciting additions, including a Revive Mechanic, Hexgates, and various other enhancements.

Prior to the mid-season, Riot introduced the temporary game mode, Arena, characterized by an entirely new format, map, and gameplay mechanics.

Despite the temporary nature of Arena, Riot temporarily disabled the mode in August, only to confirm its reintegration into the game in December. This time around, players can expect substantial changes, such as the introduction of new mechanics, an expanded array of augments, cameos, and more.

One notable addition to the Arena map is the Hexgates, strategically placed to benefit squishier champions like mages and enchanters, allowing them to maintain a safer distance from enemies. Distinct from Hexgates in Summoner’s Rift, Arena gates will undergo a global cooldown after a single use.

Augments

Addressing previous concerns surrounding Augments, which players often selected based on their champions’ optimal benefits, Riot has implemented a two-copy limit for each augment per match.

This adjustment aims to diversify augment choices, and with the introduction of over 60 new Augments, players are encouraged to experiment with various combinations, promising a richer and more diverse gaming experience.

Revive

A notable flaw in the original Arena mode, where losing a player early on placed a team at a significant disadvantage, has been addressed with the introduction of a revival mechanic. Upon a player’s death, a circle spawns over their body. Teammates can revive their fallen comrade by standing over this circle for a brief period, with each teammate limited to one revival per round.

Cameos

Riot Games has confirmed that not all cameos from the previous version will make a return; however, the most beloved ones will be joined by new additions from the upcoming Winterblessed skin line, promising a delightful blend of familiarity and freshness.

Anticipated by the League of Legends community, the second iteration of Arena is set to debut with patch 13.23, scheduled on November 21, 2023, promising an immersive and innovative gaming experience for players to enjoy.
