New LoL Deathmatch Game Mode is having its own Ranked Tier System

Riot plans to include a ranked option in their upcoming 2v2v2v2 game mode.

Riot revealed earlier this year that they will be introducing a whole new game mode to League of Legends.

The 2v2v2v2 deathmatch game mode will be a hybrid of League’s standard system and a deathmatch. Four teams of two will battle against each other in a series of deathmatch-style rounds. Players will also be able to buy items between rounds. In addition to purchasing equipment, players will be able to select an augment for their champions, similar to TFT.

Riot also stated that the game mode would contain several maps, as well as some early map concepts.

League of Legends 2v2v2v2 deathmatch game mode to have a ranked system

Having said that, we’ve now received some further information on the game mode. Riot has mentioned that a ranked system may be included with the new game mode.

Riot Meddler, the Head of League Studio, has confirmed on Reddit that the future 2v2v2v2 game style would have a ranked system. In addition, he mentioned that they are “considering calling the lowest tier in the rating system for the 2v2v2v2 mode, Wood.”

Aside than that, little is known about the ranking system or how it will work. Many people believe it will be comparable to the points system in TFT’s Hyper Roll and TFT Double Up.

The fact that Riot is developing a rank system for the 2v2v2v2 game mode, on the other hand, may imply that Riot plans to keep the game mode around for a longer amount of time, if not indefinitely.
