Today, the official League of Legends Weibo page uploaded an early LoL dev update video, showcasing key information about the game’s upcoming changes this summer and in the future.
Details of 2024 preseason, Jax ASU, and Briar
While the focus of the video was on Arena and Essence Emporium, Riot also told players that they will soon learn more about 2024 preseason improvements, Jax’s ASU, and incoming champion Briar.
Overall, Riot didn’t reveal much, but only the foundation of what we might expect in the future.
They stated that the 2024 preseason will contain “significant work on items and the item system” and that further information will be provided in the near future.
Alongside the preseason, players will also learn more about Jax’s visual and audio updates, as well as the forthcoming champion Briar, who was initially announced in the roadmap release for April 2023.
Jax’s ASU was confirmed a long time ago, and players can already see what he’ll appear like. His in-game model has also been leaked.
Riot published a China-exclusive promotional film for “Arena” mode earlier this month, unwittingly revealing the Jax ASU. At first glance, it seems quite similar to Riot’s concept artwork from a few months back. The model is quite elegant, and it appears to be a modern champion in comparison to what we now have.
The developers have yet to give a specific release date, but Jax ASU should arrive this year.
For Briar, we don’t know anything about Briar other that he’ll be released later this year. His arsenal will focus on “uncontrollable hunger”. Funny enough, Briar was teased in a recent Valorant cinematic called UNMADE.
Briar will be a Noxian vampire under the role of Skirmisher champion. The creator even calls her ‘the beast,’ implying that she’ll be a vampiric skirmisher with high-impact plays.
While players wait for the long run, they may prepare for the upcoming Essence Emporium event coming in Patch 13.17 on August 30.
