A LoL player who posted on Reddit about their rank and teammates received a message from a League of Legends developer telling them to “get some coaching.”
League of Legends can sometimes be a little annoying. It’s not only intensely competitive, but you frequently have to rely on your teammates to not purposefully feed or troll. This is especially true in ranked, where players are working really hard to accrue as much LP as they can in order to move up the ranks significantly.
Naturally, there might be some ire when players lose rather than win. This frequently results in tirades about teammates making fun of them, matchmaking being awful, or their part being far less than the others.
And with reference to their drop in rank in LoL Season 2024, that’s precisely what one support player did, according to a recent Reddit post. Based on the author’s word, it seems that he has suffered some horrible experiences in the early day of LoL 2024 season. It got so bad that he was demoted to Silver 2, albeit this year MMR has been quite soft since even new players can achieve Gold/Plat.
“I was placed gold 4, went on a loss streak even though I was MVP every loss. Now I have been matched with awful people who I can’t carry or help. I went from being Plat last season to Silver 2 now. It feels like a hell hole I can’t get out of.”
Many people have heard this kind of story before, including the Riot developer who gave the gamer in trouble some wise counsel.
Lead gameplay designer Phroxzon spent some time to guide the player towards the proper path in LoL Riot. They argued that, since they didn’t think they were playing poorly, coaching may be beneficial to them.
Some others thought the suggestion was funny and that the developer had basically told the player that it was a “skill issue.”
Being in charge of balancing choices and delivering patch previews on their Twitter feed, Phroxzon is also no stranger to League of Legends, especially with this kind of situation.
