The League of Legends item, Statikk Shiv, is set to undergo a mini-rework in an upcoming patch.
Statikk Shiv, which was once one of the oldest and most effective tools for wave-clearing in the game, was originally removed back in Patch 10.23. However, Riot Games later reintroduced it in the Season 13 Mid-Season update, much to the excitement of the community.
Since its return, Statikk Shiv has brought about some challenges for game balance. Its build path offers strong advantages, especially by providing excellent wave-clearing capabilities, which has made it a preferred choice among players.
Riot Games has already tried addressing the item’s power by reducing its wave-clear potential and adjusting its stats several times. Even with these adjustments, Statikk Shiv has managed to remain one of the top items, as its abilities suit popular champions.
In response, Riot Games is now introducing a mini-rework to Statikk Shiv to further adjust its impact.
League of Legends Patch 14.22 Statikk Shiv mini reworks
- Total cost reduced to 2700 from 2900.
- Combine cost was reduced to 450 from 650.
- Attack damage was reduced to 45 from 50.
- Attack speed reduced to 30% from 35%.
- Unique Passive – Electrospark:
- New effect: Your next 3 attacks on-hit within 8 seconds deal 60 bonus magic damage, increased to 85 against non-champions. This bounces to the closest target within 500 units, repeating from the new target to strike up to 5 targets (25 − 10 (based on level) (begins after the first attack) second cooldown).
- Old effect: Upon killing a minion or monster, unleash an electric spark at the location of their death which chains to the closest target within 500 units, repeating from the new one to strike up to 6 targets, dealing 120 magic damage to each (3-second cooldown).
- Unique Passive – Electroshock:
- New effect: Scoring a takedown against an enemy champion within 3 seconds of damaging them resets Electrospark’s cooldown.
- Old effect: Scoring a takedown against an enemy champion unleashes a lightning shock at the location of their death which chains to the closest target within 650 units, repeating from the new one to strike up to 186 targets, dealing 270 magic damage to each
The planned changes in the upcoming patch include reducing the item’s base stats as well as its overall cost. Its wave-clear ability will also be toned down, with a much more noticeable decrease in its champion damage. These modifications are designed to bring down the item’s power level significantly, making it less dominating.
The reworked Statikk Shiv is expected to launch on live servers with Patch 14.22, scheduled for release on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. This update should shift how Statikk Shiv is used in the game, offering a fresh balance to gameplay strategies.
