LoL players claimed new ranked system is ‘absolutely nothing’ and here’s why

The top-ranked player in League of Legends has expressed their opinion on the recent changes announced by Riot Games for the ranked season. These changes involve splitting the season into three splits, leading to a strong reaction from the community.

However, the player, who was formerly ranked 3rd in the US, believes that these changes ultimately hold no significant value.

League community on the ranked system

In a Reddit post on August 29, the player emphasized that these adjustments hold no real importance and urged the LoL community not to overly fixate on them. They argued that if the pursuit of a higher rank in the game is causing players to play without enjoyment, it becomes problematic and goes against the purpose of playing games.

The player even went so far as to suggest that tying one’s self-worth to a meaningless rank in a game indicates a need for therapy.

While some comments on the post take a lighthearted approach to the topic, others respond more seriously. One player shared their experience of quitting the game after realizing that the rank held no true significance.

On the contrary, some players presented counterarguments, asserting that the desire to excel at something is a fundamental human need.

Both sides present valid viewpoints. While prioritizing enjoyment in League of Legends or any multiplayer game is crucial, aiming to improve and excel is also commendable.

However, as the original author noted, making this pursuit the sole focus of one’s life can be detrimental and is likely a contributing factor to toxic behavior.

Perhaps adopting a more relaxed approach to the game and the grind associated with it would be beneficial for all parties involved in the long run.
