The low LP should be back to normal after several matches.
After yesterday’s patch, many League of Legends players have recorded astonishingly low LP gains. And “recent internal changes to the ranked system” seem to be the reason.
Over the past 24 hours, Riot Games Support Twitter has been posting answers to disappointed gamers about the latest updates to the MMR solo queue. Tweaks made to the ranked system in the new season caused “weird LP gains,” but after playing a few games it will be “normalize.”
The number of ranked games players must compete before LP gains become stable is unknown. But if there was ever a perfect time to adjust the MMR system, it is currently the Preseason.
Despite the conclusion of season 10, players can continue climbing the ladder and improving their MMR. This can be helpful when you want to get up in season 11. However, in the future modest LP gains and dramatic LP losses may impact the ranks of players.
In January 2021, season 11 is set to start. Players should expect many system improvements, including eliminating inter-division promotional games, classified matchmaking, and better ranked seeding for smurfs.
