The greatest strength of this playstyle is focusing on the power Lucian has in his laning phase.
We’ve always seen Lucian with traditional builds that offer him a lot of damage and mobility in League of Legends. However, many players have recently discovered that Summon Aery, rather than Press The Attacks, is the superior choice for The Purifier. This playstyle has recently emerged at the Korean Challenger level and has been tried out by many professional players. So, what is the build’s strength? In this post, we’ll find out together.
If you play Lucian regularly, you’ll see that this champion’s range is limited at only 500. So, if you come across opponents that play cautiously and farm from distance, it will be tough for you to exert pressure on health because you wouldn’t attack opposing champions that often. The Press The Attacks rune clearly does not assist in these scenarios when there is no possibility to basic attack an opponent in order to trigger the effect from this Rune.
When you’re in those matchups, you can only poke the opponent with Q – Piercing Light and W – Ardent Blaze. That’s why the Korean Challengers considered summoning Aery to boost the damage done by Lucian’s abilities. As a result, this champion can inflict a considerable amount of damage in the early game in order to crush the lane and safely create pressure on the opponent champion.
The second unique aspect of the Lucian Summon Aery gameplay is that you will prioritize Manamune, Lethality, and armor-piercing items to maximize the damage for the skill set. Because there isn’t a strong focus on basic attacks, critical items don’t have a lot of influence in this playstyle. When utilizing Aery Summon, items like Eclipse, Serylda Grudge, and Serpent Fang are the best options for the champion.
Aside from Summoning Aery, you should use Manaflow Band and Scorch in the Sorcery. We should keep in mind that Lucian Summon Aery’s abilities will be focused on poking the opponent’s health, thus the two runes listed above will be ideal for this strategy. In Inspiration, points like Magical Footwear and Biscuit Delivery remain the best options for Lucian.
Despite its strength, Lucian Summon Aery is not a style you should use in every matchup. As previously said, this playstyle is most effective when Lucian is pitted against long-range draw champions in the mid-lane. If you come across bruisers or assassins, the ability to swiftly accumulate damage with Press the Attack is much more useful.
