Players of League of Legends may find that the ongoing Star Guardian event, which includes a new in-game story and skins, also has an unforeseen side effect that may reduce the processing capability of their PCs (causing lag).
Social media users have reported that the animations on League’s client for the Star Guardian event are causing their PCs to run slowly. Even though the animations in the Star Guardian event only have slight movements, they seem to be using a significant amount of CPU data, as seen in the task manager on the computer.
When using a lot of data, it may take longer to access the internet or play other games or other open tasks. The animation is automatically being rendered in “above average” quality, which causes the lag, according to Reddit users, and has to be reduced if players wish to continue seeing the animations without lag. To accomplish this, open the task manager, select the “details” tab, and change the proper task’s rendering level from “above usual” to a lower one.
This problem appears to be fixed by turning off the Star Guardian event tab in League Client and disabling animations using the button in the tab’s upper right corner. The ability to close the client while in-game should be enabled in the League settings for players who suffer this slowness.
This problem, which seems to be affecting a sizable section of the League player base, has not yet been addressed by Riot Games in a statement. League of Legends, Wild Rift, and Legends of Runeterra are presently hosting the Star Guardian event, which is anticipated to last until August 15.
