Master Yi + Taric – Funneling strategy is a toxic but viable strategy at the moment.
One of the most annoying and toxic strategies is probably Master Yi + Taric – Funneling. Riot Games did give out some dedicated nerfs, but it still exists. Even at Diamond Rank, this strat is still proven to be viable.
How It Works
The strategy is actually really simple:
- We will have a Master Yi Jungle player and a Mid Taric player.
- The Jungle player will farm every camp he can while the Mid player tries their best to keep the minions wave at the middle or slightly favored to their side. After Yi has finished every camp in the Jungle, he will walk to the mid-lane and farm every minion out there. Therefore, MY will have tons of advantages in items and can almost solo-carry the whole team fights.
- There are almost no tricks in combat. Taric will try his best to keep Yi alive, and Yi starts slashing.
- You can cast E – Dazzle right after Yi enters his Q – Alpha Strike. This will guarantee when Yi pops out, and Dazzle will 100% land on the enemy that Yi is targeting.
This strategy is so broken because while Taric is nowhere near a strong mid-lane champion. He will still purchase the Support item – Relic Shield and the passive ability that gives out golds when MY is nearby still provide decent money for Taric to rush his core Support item (which is relatively cheap).
One Diamond II player is doing this, and his win-rate with Yi even achieves 91.2%. If you look deeper into every match’s history, there is always a Taric by his side.
How Community Reacts To This Strat
Obviously, the community hates this strat. Both Yi and Taric Reddit’s main thread have tried to give out proper solutions to end this nightmare. Unfortunately, all the solutions down in the picture will heavily handicap the way League of Legends is trying to expand right now – give every champion the right to pursue the item they wish.
Generally, MY is a tough champion to maneuver well in higher ranks due to his limited skill sets. Now with the helping hand of Taric, you can definitely push your rank further with this strategy.
