Riot Games has earned praise from League of Legends players for their upcoming sweeping changes to the Mythic item system in Season 14
As Season 13 approaches its conclusion, Riot Games has provided a sneak peek at the changes planned for the next season. Among these changes are significant adjustments to the Mythic item system, which will be entirely removed from the game in the next season in 2024.
Introduced in Season 11, Mythic items were designed to amplify a champion’s power and were limited to one per player per game. These items played a crucial role in shaping a champion’s playstyle.

Season 14 will see a complete removal of the Mythic item system, with Riot “going back to its root”. Despite this substantial overhaul, the League of Legends player community has expressed satisfaction with the direction Riot is taking, viewing it as a “return to form.”
In a recent developer blog, Riot announced the complete removal of Mythic items from League of Legends. All existing Mythic items will be downgraded and will undergo stat adjustments as a result. Also, some items will not see the light in League of Legends anymore.
Although Riot hasn’t revealed the full list, one particular item: Galeforce is going to be removed. Additionally, Riot revealed that all items in League will be limited to a maximum of three stats, further streamlining the system.
Many League players eagerly anticipated these changes, feeling that the game had veered too far in the direction of itemization, away from champion-focused gameplay.
Some player reactions include being “optimistic,” with expectations that it might take until mid-season to fine-tune the adjustments adequately. Others humorously noted that these changes marked a return to League’s essence, emphasizing champion kits once again.
