Mythic Items might be removed in LoL preseason 2024, and here’s why

Riot is more likely to remove the Mythic Item system from League of Legends during preseason 2024

Mythic items were included in the early days of the 2021 League preseason, along with a store UI revamp. Despite the community’s mixed opinions regarding new things, notably mythic items, Riot still allows players to develop several build choices around a core item.

However, Riot has altered the functionality of several of these items over time. Since those changes, the most popular items have been Duskblade, Guinsoo, and Statikk Shiv. Even in Patch 13.17, two out of three items have been nerfed or adjusted.

They said in the midseason that this would be a last effort to explore what the Mythic system might achieve. Riot has since expressed their dissatisfaction with the Mythic system. As a result, we might see the system altered in preseason.

Riot Games about Mythic items in League of Legends

Mythic Items has had its share of issues. Riot Phroxzon has since been on the podcast Broken By Concept and discussed Mythic items around a month ago.

Riot Phroxzon commented on how the Mythic Item System may have functioned, such as having more Mythics for each champion and so forth. Yet, that would be a massive task, and it would make the game far too complicated.

As a result, it’s evident that Riot isn’t a fan of the existing Mythic item system. However, Riot Phroxzon mentioned on the same podcast that the ADC Mythic adjustments were partly due to them testing out the system’s future.

Riot Meddler weighed in, saying that the next dev update might go into more detail about it.

Given the views of two important members of League of Legends development team, the Mythic Item System may be phased out. However, the fact that the ADC Mythic changes was successful might change things. So, rather of removing the Mythic Item system, we may see a new version of it in 2024.

Nonetheless, nothing is certain until the Dev blog update is made public. It will be a difficult task to either replace or rebuild the system. So it’ll be fascinating to watch how it works out.
