Nerfs to Lulu’s polymorphed ability in Patch 12.18 leave players question Riot’s decision

Players shared their feedback on Lulu’s substantial nerfs to her W at Worlds 2022

Lulu is one of the most powerful enchanter support champions in the current meta. Her flexible kit and late-game scaling have elevated her to the top of solo queues and professional scenes.

As a result, Riot Games has finally landed a few nerfs for the 12.18 patch cycle, along with League of Legends’ PBE. These adjustments are aimed at her polymorph ability, which is undoubtedly one of the most efficient abilities in the game.

Enchanters have gained popularity since League of Legends’ durability update struck League. No other enchanter, however, had the same influence as Lulu. Given how close Worlds 2022 is, it’s reasonable that Riot is finally nerfing her.

Lulu nerfs in Patch 12.18

It’s evident that the nerfs are primarily aimed at Lulu’s W ability. The ability is quite overloaded, giving all-around value in nearly any circumstance. Her polymorph ability is well feared by League of Legends players.

Unfortunately, some players believe that the nerfs are insignificant, and that a 2-second increase in cooldown or a 0.05-second reduction in duration will make no impact.

In any given circumstance, this cooldown increase may impact heavily in a teamfight. One of the reasons this ability seemed so powerful was her ability to use it numerous times, especially in the late game.

However, because the cooldown on the ability has risen, players will notice that they cannot use it as frequently, which may sometimes be the difference in important scenarios. The duration of the polymorph will also make a huge impact, since it will allow enemies to escape that stage faster.

Finally, the decreased movement speed should differ significantly during the laning phase.

It’s unclear whether this will deprive Lulu of her position as the top selection in professional games and solo queue. However, it will have a significant impact to her pick rate as other options are still viable in the competitive scene.
