How the New In-Game Report will affect League of Legends in Patch 13.9?

For Patch 13.9, there is an intriguing new feat on the LoL PBE. Will this new feature, however, truly aid in combating League of Legends’ toxicity?

League of Legends is infamous for its toxic player base, and while Riot appears to be addressing the issue with new tools such as automatically muting people, there is still a long way to go.

The major elements that aim to prevent players from being too toxic are player complaints and a system that detects conversation, but they’ve also added another function. This new function has been added to the PBE and is being tested.

League Patch 13.9 introduces new in-game report

While the ability to report players in game history was only recently added, it hasn’t been enough, and Riot has promised to work on combating toxicity in their games.

They’ve also incorporated in-game features. Players will be able to do so to toxic players on the spot in the next League of Legends patch. You won’t have to wait until after the game to report them; instead, you may do so right immediately in-game.

How does it work?

It is actually quite simple to report another person while in-game. To view the other players, simply tab into the menu, and the button is there next to the chat button. Above the chat sign is an exclamation mark, which you may touch to access the report options.

When you’re in this menu, you’ll see the standard reporting options. On the PBE, players can currently select every single option in the box, which is not available in the post-game report, but this could be changed before it goes live.

Players can also revert their complaints until the end of the game, just in case a bad-behaving player recovers from their toxicity and resumes normal gameplay.

Overall, this is a good move for League of Legends, and maybe Riot will act on the reports that will come in. This is unlikely to totally eliminate toxic players but offers a more flexible way to deal with toxic players.
