The year 2022 was supposed to be a year of growth for League of Legends competitions. With the season coming to an end, Riot is revamping the forthcoming Pass Event as well as it’s experience on the PBE.
Riot Games said at the start of the year that they intended to update its Pass Event system as part of the final phase of the Mythic Content Overhaul. They then released Star Guardian, to nearly universal approval.
Mythic Content Overhaul Phase 1 and Phase 2 have already finished, with the removal of Prestige Points, the transformation of Gemstones into Mythic Essence, the Mythic shop rotation, and milestone rewards for capsules and masterwork chests. Finally, Phase 3 will alter the Pass Event’s functionality and make it more comparable.
New Pass Event changes on PBE
With the League of Legends World Championship approaching, it appears that Riot has finally made some significant changes by trying out a new Pass Event hub for the big tournament.
The new Pass Event hub is currently up on League of Legends’ PBE, but before you get too excited, it appears the fanbase felt the updates was a nerf.
The new pass, according to BessWisty on Twitter, will feature 4 Worlds 2022 Grab Bags, the 2022 Spirit Blossom Ward, 4 emotes, and 2100 tokens that may be earned up to level 50 in the event pass. After achieving level 50, you will be able to access the infinite token missions.
The new event system token and reward system updates give the impression that there are fewer rewards that are simply placed in a new hub.
At this moment, it’s difficult to say whether this is a good improvement for upgrading League of Legends events, but we’ll have to wait and see how quickly a player can reach level 50 to find out.
