Riot Games appears to be replacing Ravenous Hunter with a new rune that grants extra gold for takedowns, Treasure Hunter
Recently, several players have come across a new rune that is called Treasure Hunter and it will replace Ravenous Hunter. The rune is now accessible on the League of Legends PBE server.
According to the rune description, you will gain an additional 70 gold the next time you collect a Bounty Hunter stack. Increase the gold gained by 20 gold for each Bounty Hunter stack, up to a solid 150 gold. Bounty Hunter stacks are earned the first time you get a takedown on each enemy champion.
Essentially, Treasure Hunter gives players extra gold the first time they acquire a takedown, making it an excellent pick for early-game champions with strong mobility and for players who want to snowball early on in the game.
Ravenous Hunter appears to be more useful for players that dominate in the late game, whilst the new rune may assist champions with strong early game that wants to punish the laning phase as soon as possible and those who have the chance to achieve five takedowns early in the game.
Youtuber Vandiril recently posted a video of himself trying the new rune on the PBE. In the video, they show how taking the first takedown gets them an additional 70 gold. He also showed how the amount of gold gathered after each takedown grows dramatically. After collecting two Bounty Hunter stacks, the player receives 160 gold (90 for the second takedown), and after earning every unique takedown, you will get 550 gold in total.
Riot Games has yet to formally reveal the new rune, so players should expect considerable adjustments in the near future. Treasure Hunter may be added to the live servers in patch 12.6, which is set to be released on March 30.
