Patch 14.24, the final League of Legends update for 2024, introduced some intriguing tweaks, with the spotlight firmly on Viktor. Riot’s aim was to refine his gameplay while staying true to his Arcane origins. But what’s truly surprising is that Viktor isn’t just excelling in one role—he’s dominating two!
Viktor’s Reign in the Mid Lane
Viktor has always been a powerhouse in the mid lane, and his performance remains exceptional in Patch 14.24. According to League statistics op.gg, Viktor boasts a 51.42% win rate in mid across all ranks at the time of writing. His versatility and scaling power make him a go-to pick for many Summoners looking to control the Rift from the center.
Also, while the bot lane is traditionally the domain of marksmen, Viktor has stormed into this role with unprecedented success. Historically, mages like Brand and Veigar have challenged the AD carry meta in bot, and now Viktor has joined their ranks.
Currently, Viktor leads the bot lane role with an astonishing 53.63% win rate, the highest among all champions in the position. His ability to poke, control waves, and scale into a late-game menace makes him a nightmare for traditional ADCs.
Patch 14.24 Changes Propel Viktor’s Dominance
Every one of Viktor’s abilities received adjustments in this patch, but the most impactful changes were made to his Chaos Storm (R). Now, Viktor’s ultimate evolves after players upgrade all his abilities, increasing the storm’s size and duration. This allows a fed Viktor to wreak havoc across the Rift, excelling in both mid and bot lane roles.
Despite Viktor’s current dominance, it’s unlikely Riot will intervene before the new season begins on January 6, 2025. His stats, while impressive, haven’t hit emergency levels, and the upcoming meta shift could naturally address his stronghold.
