One of the most popular couples in League of Legends is Xayah and Rakan, but Riot Games has now chosen to cease updating one of their key features that make them unique in the game.
Riot to delete Xayah and Rakan unique joint recall in the future
Since the beginning of their debut on Summoner’s Rift, the champions have had one special feature that no other champion has with one another —a joint recall animation—which was introduced to the game in 2017. What’s more unique is that besides the default skin, they also have their own joint unique recall animation with each of their shared skins.
Unfortunately, players will not see a unified, recognizable recall animation anymore in any upcoming skins from the creators as they have announced the news.
Yesterday on the Rakan Mains subreddit, Riot engineer DW Platypus announced the dev team’s intention to stop using joint recall animations for these 2 champions.
“The Skins Team Production Leadership has agreed that unique Duo Recalls within a specific skinline is a feature that we will not be carrying over to future”
The developer outlined how Riot came to this conclusion after reviewing game statistics. The team’s research led them to the conclusion that players don’t frequently choose the 2 champions in the same game, and they don’t frequently choose them with the same skinline, either.
As a consequence, future skinlines for Xayah and Rakan, with Broken Covenant being the next one, won’t have a joint recall. Players are understandably unhappy with the result as they believe this is a joint release of the 2 champions, so why not continue to do so with their recall?
The live servers are anticipated to hit with Patch 13.5 next month, which will include the Broken Covenant skinline, which includes outfits for Riven, Nocturne, Vladimir, Miss Fortune, Xayah, Rakan, and Cho’Gath.
