This young policeman shared that although he had to AFK and lost the League of Legends match, he felt happy for having caught the criminal.
Great timing Mr. Policeman!
On August 12, the news portal Sohu.com published a story that drew a lot of attention from the Chinese LoL community. The narrative begins when Zhang Yihao, a young policeman in Chongqing, went to a local net cafe with several buddies to play League of Legends. While he and his pals were loading the game, the net shop’s speaker announced that “the strongest player on the Ionia server is currently online.”
Zhang Yihao was very interested at the time and wanted to see for himself who the “best player on the Ionia server” was, so he switched to this player’s seat. To be informed with such a title, a player must be at an exceptionally high position in the Challenger rank of a certain server (in this case, the Ionia server). So it’s reasonable that Zhang Yihao wants to watch how a high-level League of Legends player plays the game.
However, when Zhang Yihao arrived, he learned that the gamer was a criminal being investigated by the local police for purposefully inflicting harm to others. Zhang Yihao contacted his colleagues nearby and proceeded to arrest the suspect after collecting photographs and verified that this was the subject of investigation. The entire procedure of Zhang Yihao and his colleagues capturing “the best person on Ionia server” was also filmed and immediately went viral on the Internet after that.
Sharing with local media, Zhang Yihao – the young ambitious policeman shared that in order to catch “the strongest person on Ionia server”, he and his friends accepted AFK and lost their match. However, Zhang Yihao felt extremely happy that he was able to catch this criminal and serve justice.
When a high-level player from that server logs in at one of China’s internet cafés, an announcement is made over the speakers. This can help gamers in achieving popularity in their local gaming community. However, in this player’s situation, attention may not have been desired.
