Preseason 2022: All changes coming to League of Legends

Are you ready for the changes coming in League of Legends Preseason 2022?

In Preseason 2022, League of Legends will receive new items, dragons, and other unexpected developments.

Riot will be testing a number of things beginning in November during the Preseason 2022. Instead of the customary rebuild or remodel, the Preseason 2022 will build on the foundations established in previous years.

“For this year’s preseason, we’re sprucing things up with our existing systems, like items, runes, and the elemental rift,” stated by Riot’s director of gameplay production Jeremy Lee said on Oct. 7.

Here is the complete list of changes that are coming in Preseason 2022.

Items changes in Preseason 2022

Riot intends to introduce new items and make changes to existing ones throughout Preseason 2022. According to Lee, this will contain two new Mythic goods. The first is intended for magicians who want “a bit greater survivability.” The item provides damage mitigation that “lingers” for a few seconds after you are struck. While the protection is active, you get the ability haste.

Riot believes this item will be especially useful for longer-range mages in need of a Mythic that can assist them survive a tower dive. Xerath and Ziggs are two champions that could utilize this item.

The second item is a support tank that is “ideal for champions that like to go aggressive and charge into the midst of a fight.”

When you use this item to paralyze an opponent champion, all adjacent foes incur greater damage from your team for a brief period of time. Sejuani and Leona are two champions that potentially benefit from this item.

“We intended to provide every champion strategic alternatives in every game when we changed League’s item system,” Lee explained. “We still believe that is the best aim for Mythics, but our opinion has shifted on Legendary goods.”

Riot believes that it is OK for some champions to develop the same Legendary in all games provided it is the “perfect match.” The developers, on the other hand, want players to have a variety of options, which is why they aim to strengthen Legendaries for mages, assassins, and tanks.

According to Lee, Assassins may look forward to a new Legendary item that offers ability haste and refunds a part of their ultimate’s cooldown with opponent takedowns in Preseason 2022.

With the start of Preseason 2022, tanks who rely on mana will get a new Legendary item that offers additional health depending on total mana and also burns some of it to generate a shield anytime they immobilize an enemy, while mages will get a new Legendary item that grants magic penetration against recently protected foes.

Runes changes in Preseason 2022

Riot has “continuing to track” the rates of use and power levels of runes across the game and believes there are some “excellent, focused tweaks” to the system that may be implemented in the Preseason 2022.

“Most of all, we feel the Inspiration tree’s identity has been pretty unclear,” Lee added. “We’d like to broaden its keystone use cases [in the Preseason 2022].”

Glacial Augment is being reworked by the developers to “double down” on the “fantasy” of slowing down foes. They’re also tweaking Lethal Tempo to “lean into its attack speed fantasy” and provide it with a more “distinctive use-case” on the Precision tree.

Preseason 2022 new mechanic: Objective Bounties

According to Riot, champion bounties “balance out” the game by paying players with extra gold for killing opposing champions who have acquired a lead. While the developers do not intend to modify this structure, they believe that in Preseason 2022, they will be able to provide players with new methods to come back into the game through something called Objective Bounties.

Objective Bounties will function similarly to champion bounties, except that they will be paid in when players seize map objectives such as towers or the Baron. “They ratchet up gradually as the other team’s lead rises,” Lee explained. “And, regardless of who claimed it, the reward is shared with your whole squad.”

Taking objectives is usually the greatest method to make a comeback when you’re behind, so Riot wants to make it a “clearer” and “more rewarding” tactic in the Preseason 2022.

Preseason 2022 new mechanic: Dragons

According to Riot, the initial purpose of dragons in Rise of the Elements was to improve “game-to-game” variation by “providing a number of different and memorable landscapes for players to master.” This includes map terrain modifications, new and strong Dragon Souls, and a game-ending Elder dragon bonus in the 2019 Preseason.

While these adjustments mainly successful in making the game seem more distinct, Riot believes there is still space to develop on Summoner’s Rift’s unique settings in Preseason 2022. “We particularly appreciate how each dragon produces distinct topography, offers power boosts, and adds additional strategy to the mid and late game,” Lee added.

Riot is bringing two new dragons to the game in Preseason 2022. The Hextech dragon gives increased haste and attack speed. When a player claims the soul, they will gain a “chain slow,” which is comparable to Statikk Shiv’s passive. When this dragon takes over Summoner’s Rift, it produces “hextech gates” that let players to travel to certain spots on the map.

When a player’s health bar is low, the Chemtech dragon – which is added in Preseason 2022 – deals more damage. The soul grants players a “second chance” in life. When they die, they enter a “zombie state,” in which they may cast abilities and fight for a limited time. When this dragon gains control of the Rift, it establishes “camouflage zones” in certain spots.

“These Preseason 2022 dragons might seem more impactful than the current ones,” Lee said. “And well, they are. Our goal is to add more unique encounters and meaningful strategies to the mid and late-game.”

Preseason 2022 new system feature: Challenges

In the Preseason 2022, Riot will introduce a new feature called Challenges to the game. According to Riot, the system would reward players for all of the “difficult, distinctive, and exciting goals they achieve via their games.”

Challenges progress through time, displaying players’ growing skill and “legacy” across several systems, modes, and games. “We want to recognize not just your rank and champion expertise, but also your originality, range of playstyles, collection, and everything in between,” Lee stated.

Players will be able to measure their general mastery and investment in the game using this system, as well as visualize and compare a range of successes and have different sorts of objectives to advance and strive towards since Preseason 2022.

The entire system is planned to be live early next year.
