The waves of criticism continued to rise against Professor Akali – a well-known content creator of League of Legends.
It can be stated that content-making for such a complicated and popular game title as League of Legends is almost no problem at all. While its community always enthusiastically supports guides, funny videos, game analyzing, bugs discovering, montages, the amount of possibilities is almost endless for any content creator to choose from, some others decided to go on a whole different path. The case of YouTuber Professor Akali, is an example, being well-known for being one of the decent one-trick-pony players of Akali, he is currently facing waves of criticism against smurfing and making “dirty” contents.
The evidence is that Professor Akali’s monthly views and new subscriptions are steadily declining. According to Socialblade.com statistics, Professor Akali’s channel has lost 5.599 million views in the last month. Furthermore, the amount of new subscriptions on this channel has fallen dramatically after January 2021.
The first reason for the League of Legends community’s boycott is that Professor Akali frequently smurfs to make his videos. Simply said, this man possesses the abilities of a Challenger yet plays at a much lower rank. At the time, this YouTuber will use “troll builds” such as Duskblade of Draktharr, Galeforce, and Goredrinker for Akali in his matches against lower rank players in order to make content for his channel.
Smurfing is clearly not accepted by the League of Legends community since it damages the gaming experience of other players. This leaves Professor Akali’s videos provide minimal value for viewers to learn from. As a result, he has gotten consistent criticism from the community, and many people have quit following this YouTuber.
Professor Akali’s views is gradually falling because he was caught for producing fake videos. Professor Akali, if you recall, uploaded a video titled “I hacked the LoL client and applied cheat codes” towards the end of April. Later, YouTubers such as SkinSpotlights and Vandiril pointed out that this man had simply used a program that permits generating matches in Gym mode on the PBE server.
Not stopping there, Professor Akali exploited the image of female League of Legends streamers and presented a few “challenges” in order to gain more views. Such videos, however, did not help him regain popularity when he was already boycotted by the majority of the League of Legends community.
Maybe it’s time for him to adjust the way he creates videos in order to reclaim the League of Legends community’s attention. Smurf vids should be removed, and this player should concentrate on his best skill, which is playing Akali really well. If not, Professor Akali’s channel will soon become a “dead channel,” and fans would flag him until they remove him entirely from the community as they once threatened.
