Is League of Legends becoming a game that you’ll be pleased to watch the tournament, but don’t want to play?
‘Ranking is the fastest way to ruin life’
This has now appeared to be more than 10 years ago and there are many gamers who have been sticking to this game for a long time. The number of followers of League of Legends is very large, which is hard to deny, however, the actual thing is a different story…
A few hours ago, an idea is that League of Legends is becoming a game of tournament play is fun, but the game is not has received a lot of comments from the community. The majority of gamers think that playing ratings doesn’t really help gamers enjoy the great of LoL, even someone who speaks out of the bitter truth that – “ranking is the fastest way to ruin your life”.
I feel like league is a game that’s much more fun to think about playing than it is to actually play
Every time I get back into esports or see highlight clips of league i think “wow damn, this shit looks so much fun I gotta go rank up in league!” and then I play a ranked game and it’s such a shit show that I just drop it for a few days and then repeat the process over again. Anyone else feel this way?
- I went from g1 35lp to g3 0lp in a fucking day. I had told myself I’d try to get plat before july started and honestly after this bullshit I haven’t even turned on my computer in a couple of days. I’ve been genuinely losing sleep over this and I feel so dead inside. Solo q rlly destroys lives...
- It’s designed to force you to climb as long as possible. Everyone I’ve known who hits their goal rank basically just stops playing, and Riot knows that and doesn’t want it. The longer you have to climb the more you play, the more League takes over your life, because people who log in every day are probably checking the store and eventually they think, “Well I play League so much I could get a skin or two.”
- I have fond memories of playing Dota in college when it was a mod. Then league came out and it was pretty fun. Just get 5 buds together get drunk, shoot the shit, and try dumb strats. We didn’t care if we lost. Then the group fell apart and I wasn’t able to find a group of people that fit my schedule with that approach. So I played solo and I tried to play right, but I don’t have time to keep up and I’ve just gotten shittier.
- So I stopped playing rift because it wasn’t fun feeling like you are just wasting peoples time and no one was having fun. So I picked up aram but then it kind of happened there too. Like I’m not great at the game, I know, I can’t play that often but I’m trying my best. Just get verbally abused by a bunch of 14 yr olds hiding behind their anonymity. Yeah, not fun. So we don’t play it at all anymore.
- Great game. Lots of fun to be had but the community and na pro players have fostered a really shitty attitude towards a cooperative game that is just hard deal with. So I don’t.
- Me before/in a normal game: We out here chilling, bumping some tunes, having a good time. What my team is 3-17, support feeding, gave up two drakes in a row? Pfft nbd just having some fun
- Me before/in Ranked SoloQ: starts sweating immediately in a Champ select what if they take my main, and ban my secondary? What if they’re looking at my op.gg and are already getting tilted and getting ready to flame me? Jesus how do I do wave management again? How am I already 20cs behind? And here comes the flames.
- TL;DR- While I can’t say playing ranked has necessarily “destroyed” my life, there definitely is more anxiety going into SoloQ in ranked versus a norm game (obviously) but because of the stigma, it’s a breeding ground for toxic players who cry/flame when they don’t get the game they want.
- Haven’t played for a year now, last time I played (already had a break before that) I wanted the competitive rush again and just jumped into a ranked and played 3 matches. Jesus, what a dumpster fire. Everybody was just flaming each other after 5 seconds into every game. It was HORRIBLE. I‘m feeling kinda grown up now and don’t want to deal with that anymore. If I ever play again, I‘ll instantly block all chat. It honestly kills my mood when people treat each other like that.
- I played since s2 and never really had a problem with inters/trolls etc. I just lost the competitive drive. I went from spamming ranked 8 hours a day to slowly just playing a couple ARAMs a day to just not playing at all anymore (stopped playing around s9). I still regularly check this sub and watch gameplay/LCS though. It’s absolutely become a spectator sport for me.
It isn’t suddenly thought that professional LoL and single rank are two different things despite in the same game. When you play LoL with the same team full of high-end players, the player will make progress extremely quickly, when the whole team works together on the game, play together, so the cohesion is greater. That LoL they play is authentic teammate game.
Meanwhile, in Solo/Duo, just like you’re playing another game altogether, everyone plays their own games, sometimes not even interested in teammates. From that single rating like a psychological game instead of the skill, the loser is harsher, moving more mistakes. And of course, the psychology of gamers will be extremely bad.
Gamers don’t suddenly think that playing Solo/Duo is the fastest way to destroy the fun when playing LoL. This is not necessarily the fault of LoL, of the Riot Games Publisher or gamer, maybe it is the essence of the rank.
