Riot Games’ newest Udyr rework is now live, and he’s ready to rule the jungle with the strength of the demigods.
Udyr’s rework, undoubtedly one of the most anticipated reworks to a League of Legends champion in recent years, was a little disappointing in terms of strength upon his debut in Patch 12.16. Riot Games has responded by deploying some Spirit Walker hotfix buffs. The bonuses arrived shortly after his rework became online.
Riot Ray Yonggi, a gameplay analyst who was responsible for the Sivir mid-scope updates a few patches ago, was in the Udyr mains Discord channel, working directly with the individuals who know one of League’s most one-trick champions well.
This is where he updated the champion on upcoming adjustments, screenshots of which were released to Reddit.
Udyr’s hotfix buffs
Q – Wilding Claw
- Max HP on hit 3~9% >> 3~10%
- Max HP on hit AD ratio 4% >> 6%
- Physical on hit damage 5~25 (+0.1 bonus AD) >> 5~45 (+0.2 bonus AD)
W – Iron Mantle
- Shield HP ratio 2~5% >> 2~4%
- Life on hit HP ratio 1.2~1.8% >> 1.2~1.5%
E – Blazing Stampede
- Move speed 30~50% >> 30~65%
- Stun lockout per target 6~4.5s >> 6~4 s
These adjustments reflect a desire to reduce the viability of Udyr’s multiple playstyles, which are a unique, one-of-a-kind component of what the champion has provided to the game for over a decade.
Tank builds are in a decent enough position for the time being, since there is usually a real challenge with reworks, which expresses itself in an exceptionally depressed win rate on release.
As Ray Yonggi mentioned in the Discord thread, this isn’t the final time we’ll see modifications to Udyr. Aside from the build issue, Tear of the Goddess has a bug that prevents his empowered auto attacks from correctly stacking the item.
Given the complexity of these relationships, these modifications will most likely be implemented in later patches rather than as a hotfix.
