On the evening of December 7, Riot Games has announced the next three League of Legends skins coming to the Rift. Ekko will receive a skin from the Arcane series called Firelight, while Gnar and Rek’sai will be the 2 next champions to join in the Elderwood skin line.
The official League Twitter account for the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Nordics tweeted splash art and in-game images of the upcoming skins for Gnar, Rek’Sai, and Ekko.
Firelight Ekko
As a result, Ekko is the next character to appear, following Jayce, Vi, Caitlyn, and Jinx, who all have skins inspired from Riot’s recent Arcane animated series.
In Arcane, Ekko is known as the leader of the Firelight, or the owl mask character in the series’ teaser. In the skin’s splash art, he’s depicted riding his hoverboard from the series and wearing the mask he wore throughout the second act of Arcane.
Arcane was a success for Riot in the early stages of their desire to create a unique cinematic universe for the whole Runeterra world. Not only does Arcane appeal to the league community, but it also appeals to many non-League players, and for that, Riot has implemented skins from the series into the game.
Elderwood Gnar and Rek’sai
In addition to Ekko’s skin, Riot introduced two new Elderwood-themed additions to League’s collection. Gnar and Rek’Sai are the Elderwood line’s 12th and 13th skins, respectively.
Riot still hasn’t announced the official release date for these skins but fans should expect it to arrive on the live server early next year.
