Riot Mortdog, the lead developer of the popular auto-chess battler, Teamfight Tactics (TFT), recently revealed a tantalizing glimpse into the future of gameplay with the introduction of a groundbreaking series of Artifact item set to debut in the upcoming Set 11: Inkborn Fables. This announcement has set the gaming community ablaze with excitement.
In a strategic move aimed at diversifying the gameplay experience, Mortdog provided insight into the distinct nature of these Artifact items, which are poised to disrupt the conventional approach to item used within the game.
Departing from the standardized mechanics of traditional items, Artifact item promises to usher in a new era of strategic depth and individual champion optimization.
“Our goal is to make this group of Artifact item different from normal ones. For familiar items, their mechanics are usually quite uniform and can be flexibly used in many different units, formations. Meanwhile, the Artifact item will be more unique with extremely different effects. There were even a few item that only fit one unit during that season. This allows players to maximize the power of a champion with this special tool.”
Mortdog articulated that the primary objective behind the creation of Artifact item in TFT is to offer players a markedly different gameplay dynamic compared to conventional items.
