Riot’ expansion into China might be a chance to break into the Gacha games
Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends, Valorant, and other successful games, recently stated that it will invest in its Chinese development studio to grow its Research and Development (R&D) division. As a result, the organization intends to create gaming titles that will exist for decades.
Riot increasing its roster of titles is not uncommon, but given that it is in China, there is a growing suspicion that the organization may be interested in trying its hand at gacha games.
Gacha games are immensely popular in China and across the world, with Genshin Impact being a total hit. As a result, Riot Games will have a lot of leeways to go international with those titles if they so want.
Riot Games may create titles that has the same mechanics like Genshin Impact
The famous video game company started its Chinese expansion last year. Players have been engaged in the creation of the company’s current titles since then.
However, the fact that the company is growing its R&D (Research and Development) division in China has piqued the interest of many. This is because Riot Games’ president stated in the presentation that the organization will be developing additional titles.
He also emphasized that new titles would be created with long-term service in mind. This might refer to either MMORPGs or Gacha games.
Riot Games, on the other hand, is already working on an MMORPG. As a result, Gacha games are the only remaining option for new titles that can span decades.
The Chinese market is largely home to all types of Gacha games, with Genshin Impact and Tower of Fantasy being the two biggest brands in this field. So, if a well-known company like Riot Games decides to enter the market, it may become a significant contender to that title.
