League of Legends players criticized Riot Games for removing the Lunar Eclipse Senna Prestige skin from the Mythic Shop after only two weeks. Furthermore, the corporation faced outrage after revealing that the list of Prestige skins for 2022 will not be released
Beginning in season 12, Riot Games made a huge change to the Prestige and Mythic skin tiers, with Gemstones becoming Mythic Essence and an annual rotating Mythic Shop, establishing a centralized system and in-game currency for players to earn rare Prestige and Hextech skins.
A monthly rotation of new and existing Prestige skins, as well as a selection of Hextech skins, are available for purchase via Mythic Essence in the Shop. However, players are already criticizing Riot’s new store for being a “greedy business”.
Recently on the official League of Legends subreddit, a user by the name ATUKO said that “The way that Lunar Eclipse Prestige Senna was handled was absolutely ridiculous”.
The thread quickly rose to the top of Reddit, and it described their issues with Senna’s new Prestige skin being in the shop for only 2 weeks and the only way to obtain the skin, along with icon and border is to spend more than 100$ on capsules. Yet, the only way players could know was through a Rioter’s Twitter account, not even on the official media.
The Redditor went on to claim that Riot Games is using a “FOMO tactic” to induce fans to spend a lot of money on capsules in order to purchase the new Mythic Essence for skins that have highly limited availability.
League gamers were irritated once more when Riot Product Lead Ken Adams confirmed that the company will no longer discuss which champions are scheduled for Prestige skins in the future, as they have done for years.
Although the launch of Mythic Essence reduced the process into a single currency, some are concerned that Riot is not providing players a fair opportunity to obtain skins.
