Riot has replied to a Reddit thread about current League of Legends systems, stating that significant changes to systems are in the works
League of Legends has grown from a basic MOBA title to one of the most popular PC games of all time over the last decade. Riot has worked diligently to keep many of these prior systems running, but many of them have been abandoned as the game progresses.
One specific player took to Reddit to express their dissatisfaction, going into detail about each individual system and its present flaws. Clash, Challenges, Eternals, and Champion Mastery are current trouble spots.
Fortunately for them, game director Pu “Pupulasers” Liu revealed some details about the player systems, and hinted at some system improvements in the future.
Puplasers went on to say that, while they cannot reveal complete specifics just yet, Riot has started working on some of the systems.
Pupulasers immediately recognized that the current Challenge system is far from complete and that it could be used to offer more event-driven and concentrated goals for players to accomplish throughout their games.
According to Riot, the Eternals system’s has yet to be unveiled, and any investment into the system will not be “primarily motivated by monetization, instead focusing on utilizing the tech to give players awesome, Champ-specific goals to chase and achieve,”
Finally, Riot is seeking to revamp champion mastery because there isn’t enough to differentiate between players with 30-40k mastery and those with 1 million mastery. Riot is presently investigating ways to expand Champion Mastery, possibly branching it out to things like roles and classes.
No promises were made about what kinds of changes would be enacted, but Pupulasers assured that the team is still working on improving current systems and launching new ones.
