Riot Games unintentionally leaked a future League of Legends champion

A recent survey has accidentally revealed details about an upcoming League of Legends champion.

Despite being over 15 years old, League of Legends has remained popular thanks in large part to its diverse roster of champions. Currently, the game boasts more than 168 unique champions, each offering a distinct playstyle.

Last year, Riot introduced four new champions to the game, but so far this year, players have only seen the release of two new champions: Smolder and Aurora. There’s also speculation that Ambessa Medarda, a character from the hit series Arcane, might be added to the game when Arcane Season 2 is released.

Even with these additions, the number of new champions this year is significantly lower than in previous years, but this slower pace is to be expected as the game continues to mature and evolve.

One trend that has become quite common in recent times is the leaking of champion information before their official release. These leaks typically come from third-party sources or data miners who scour game files for clues. However, something unexpected happened recently—Riot Games themselves accidentally leaked a new champion.

Riot Leaked an Arcane Champion: Mel Medarda

The accidental leak occurred when Riot Games conducted a survey related to League of Legends Split 3 for 2024. In this survey, they inadvertently revealed the identity of an upcoming champion, and fans of Arcane will recognize the character: Mel Medarda.

In the survey, Mel Medarda’s champion icon was visible, along with placeholder icons for her abilities. Interestingly, the icon for her passive ability appeared to be finalized. This discovery has led many to believe that Mel could be the next champion to join the League roster.

However, it’s important to note that Mel’s inclusion in the survey might not guarantee her release as a champion. In the past, Silco, another character from Arcane, was considered as a potential League champion but was eventually turned into Renata Glasc early in development. Similarly, Mel could be a placeholder, and there is a chance she might not make it into the game.

Even though nothing is set in stone, this leak has certainly sparked excitement and speculation among the community, particularly those who are fans of Arcane. As more information becomes available, players will be eagerly waiting to see if Mel Medarda will officially join the growing roster of champions.
