Riot Games will add another nerf to one of the game’s strongest and most popular items in patch 13.17, making it the fourth nerf in less than two months.
Adjustments for items are nothing new in a game like League of Legends, and have always been included in patches. However, tweaking items might be difficult for developers at times.
After three seasons of AD carriers going without Statik Shiv, Riot Games brought it back in Patch 13.10. However, the item was too powerful, and a lot of mages exploited it in the mid lane.
Riot Games nerf Statikk Shiv nerfs in patch 13.17
- AP ratio reduced from 30% to 15%
According to League mod Spideraxe, Statik Shiv will have its AP ratio decreased from 30 to 15 % in Patch 13.17,
Statikk Shiv was altered in Patches 13.10 (when it was re-added to the game), 13.11, 13.12, 13.13, and 13.14. And now, in Patch 13.17.
The drop of the ratio from 30% to 15% will be a blow to the item and the champions suitable with the item, but it appears that the devs needed to make a radical adjustment. Particularly because the previous tweaks did not have the desired impact of balancing the item.
No one liked the item at first. Riot Games then buffed Statikk Shiv two patches in a row, with no idea what would happen next.
Suddenly, everyone, especially Mages, like the item. The following three patches nerfed it to the ground, and it appears that it isn’t enough because patch 13.17 is bringing one more tuning modification for this item.
Even after multiple nerfs, the item remains powerful in its current state. So it’ll be fascinating to see how much of an influence the forthcoming nerf has on Statikk Shiv’s popularity.
