Riot Games seem a bit exaggerate but the fact that Death’s Dance is too powerful right now is undeniable.
Meta Meport is a video series made by Riot Games for collecting and explaining some of the trending playstyles, meta from League of Legends competitive scene to players around the world. And in newest issue, Death’s Dance becomes a central point due to its popularity and dominant power. It’s easy to say that thank to Death’s Dance, ADC now is in a better position in this current meta than ever before.
So what was actually happend? Death’s Dance used to be used only by Aatrox because of how well compatible it is with this Darkin‘s kit and playstyle. However, on patch 10.6, Riot Games decided to change the recipe of this item, with the replacing Pickaxe with Aegis of the Legion and the providing of armor and magic resistance, Death’s Dance immediately became extremely trendy.
Even what Riot Games had said in the video, this item have became so overpowered that it can help you to get out of Silver and climb up to Diamond easily, all you need to do is buy the Death’s Dance.
What makes the difference between Death’s Dance and others lifesteal items is that the others only heal on basic attacks while Death’s Dance provides healing on all sources of damage. And in League of Legends, there are a tons of champion that have higher damage output from skills than from basic attacks, because of that, Death’s Dance provides dozens of healing and tankiness, helps them to survire longer in combat without buying too many tank iteams.
The storing 30% of all post-mitigation physical and magic damage received, which is successively taken as damage over time true damage instead, dealing one-third of the stored damage every second makes you even harder to kill, the healing protential cause this damage over time becomes insignificant. Death’s Dance is a perfect “avoid-being-killed” item and there is no way to counter.
If this item is only used by the Bruiser then it’s completely fine but now Death’s Dance has taken over in ADC role because of how this item covers up ADC‘s weakness. You’re squishy but with consecutive healing come from good DPS, it’s not easy to be killed. More on that, Death’s Dance also provides both armor and magic resistance, not much items that give both of these stats.
In summary, Black’s Dance have been a strongest defensive item in this current League of Legends‘s meta. The item not only helps you to survire longer but also deal more damage. And when the enemy had thrown everything at you and you’re still alive, then you already won the combat. Just look how strong this item are.
