RIOT Games and Its 1001 Problems with Inting and Punishment

The cancellation of Hai and Tyler1’s League Partner Program, along with the issue of inting have raised questions about the authenticity of Riot Games’ report system.

Inting – the act of intentional feeding to sabotage other players’ gaming experience – has been one of the most complained issues for years. The frustration of seeing a Nunu taking ghost and teleport then running down every lane donating gold to the enemy laners is truly a rage-inducing sight to behold.

You can legitimately get away with doing this

Riot, despite its ardent rhetoric against inters, its process of handling out punishment seems to be faulty. Players have been criticizing Riot for overlooking players who legitimately inted while punishing players randomly even though the chat log was unequivocally meant to be positive (Read more about the incident here)

“ggwp <3!” is apparently a bannable offense now

Various League of Legends related subreddits, such as r/league of legends, has been filled with recent posts complaining about how incompetent Riot Games is in handling out punishments for genuine offenders. The comments almost always about how real inters never get penalized, but players who literally commited zero offense receive ban and have their honor rewards revoked.

One Reddit user had made an extensive Reddit post to call Riot out for their irreponsibility in handling the current state of the game

The Reddit post criticizing Riot has been removed by r/league of legends moderators, thus raises the question whether Riot is actively silencing players for speaking against their unethical management or not. Also, Riot’s faulty automatic penalty giving system was also mentioned as the cause for many of the game’s issues in the comment section of the aforementioned post.

From the general reaction, it can be inferred that unless a massive overhaul of the punishment system, and either improve the AI or employ actual humans for the process, Riot will continue to lose faith from its players. Many years long League of Legends enthusiasts have been quitting and uninstalling the game because the company behind the game disillusioned them from playing the once great title of the MOBA genre.
