Riot has secretly reduced the value of Orange Essence, and fans are not happy about it
Orange Essence and the Hextech Crafting system were introduced to League of Legends in 2016. It’s commonly used to turn cosmetic shards into valuable loot like champion skins, ward skins, summoner icons, and emotes.
Recently, Riot Games has altered the amount of Orange Essence a player can obtain by disenchanting Esports-themed emotes and icons. Unfortunately, the adjustments were not mentioned before the patch was released, which was quite upsetting for the players.
Riot Games nerfed Orange Essence
- The price of Esports-themed icons went down from 250RP to 100RP
- The price of Esports-themed emotes went down from 350RP to 200RP
- Disenchanting of icons will net less OE, 50 OE instead of 125 OE
- The removal of the ability to convert esports emote. (It might be a bug)
Prior to the modifications, disenchanting Esports-themed symbols and emotes was one of the most effective means of collecting Orange Essence.
Riot Games normally announces changes via patch notes. However, this time they did not notify the players about the modifications before they were released, causing uncertainty among them.
Players’ access to redeem their favorite skins, emotes, and icons via the Hextech Crafting system was impacted by the modifications. As a result, players are furious about the changes and are criticizing Riot for their approach.
Riot Games has yet to reply to the adjustments in its English-language Twitter accounts. However, they have given us inconsistent comments in their Spanish and German Riot support, claiming that the change is intentional.
The changes will not be altered until September 7 as Riot is taking a social media break.
