Smites have been renamed ahead of the preseason 2023

Riot is working on the League of Legends preseason patch as the season comes to a finish. We already know about the upcoming modifications to the game, like the new jungle pets, Chemtech dragon, ping system, and so on.

Many of these changes have already occurred, like as the changing of item names from Still-Beating Strength to Heartsteel.  Along with many other balancing modifications, there have been item changes such as new icons and undoing changes for some items.

As Riot continues to adapt and update the PBE material, this leads to changes in Smites’ names in League of Legends for the forthcoming Patch 12.22.

According to Spideraxe’s Twitter post, the Smites’ name changes will be modified into the following:

These adjustments are part of Riot’s ongoing effort of improving the game’s name and other characteristics. Patch 12.22 will receive an update shortly, as the preseason patch will be issued.

Lots of changes are happening around Smite, too. Riot had also updated Nunu and Cho’Gath’s’ NomNom’ ability to help them cope with the new Smites and to stay relevant to the League of Legends meta.

To clarify, the smite adjustments are only for the name and nothing else. In Patch 12.22, there are no changes to smite damage values or anything else.
