Perhaps the Vi and Xayah buffs in patch 11.22 League of Legends was too much, and Riot wanted to correct it right away.
Riot has recently published a new update that reduces the strength of Vi and Xayah. This is considered a rather urgent move from the balance team when version 11.22 was just released a day ago. According to the announcement from Riot Phlox, this is a necessary adjustment because the two champions described above were previously overbuffed. Because the balancing team has no control over this, fast action is required.
Vi has 2 basic stats, AD and armor based on level, has been reduced, along with the stun time of the ultimate skill also reduced by 0.1 seconds. Meanwhile, Xayah has been nerfed further, with Q’s damage being lowered significantly at all levels, as well as the cooldown of this ability being increased.
The rationale given by Riot is that Xayah has been too powerful after being buffed again, especially with the critical build, hence this champion’s main move damage should be decreased to lessen his laning power in the early game, Vi on the other hand, proved more effective than predicted after making minor changes to her Q and final performances.
The reason the balance team has to make such urgent adjustments is because this is the last update of season 11 before ranked mode closes. Riot wants players to climb the rankings without facing anything too uneven at this point. Meanwhile, patch 11.23 will continue to deliver modifications to the 2022 Pre-Season, which is set to launch on November 17.
