Riot has just addressed the one-shot Udyr build, which will most likely be nerfed in Patch 13.1
Riot recently revealed some of their intentions for the first patch of 2023, one of which is to keep all of Udy’s diverse builds viable. Riot chose to give the Spirit Walker a full VGU upgrade to bring him up to speed with the current play style. The Udyr rework was teased earlier this year and was released with Patch 12.16. In terms of both visuals and gameplay, it was a huge success.
Unfortunately, it was a nightmare in terms of balance. Udyr was a balancing issue for Riot, owing mostly to his builds. Unlike other champions, he has several builds, and maintaining all of them at the same time is a difficult task. He was either overpowering or underwhelming, and he is presently overpowered. So, Riot is attempting to adjust Udyr once more in Patch 13.1.
Riot confirms Udyr nerfs in Patch 13.1
Udyr is one of the game’s best champions in terms of raw strength, due to the buffs he got in patch 12.18. Along with the Prowler’s Claw buff, he can easily delete any champion in the game, even tanks.
The other Udyr builds, particularly the tank and AP ones, are pretty unimpressive at the moment and in serious need of improvements.
Riot Phroxzon, League’s lead champion designers, revealed the team’s intentions for the Udyr adjustments on his Twitter page.
According to Riot, they are aware of the issue and are working on a solution, but we will have to wait a few weeks for the modifications to be implemented on live servers, since they are scheduled for patch 13.1.
In terms of adjustments, they intend to tone down the Lethality Udyr build while simultaneously buffing and making the other builds equally viable.
