The new assassin, and also the 4th Darkin champion, is set to come to the game
Riot Games announced the new Darkin champion in their latest League of Legends Champions & Preseason video.
According to League’s lead champion producer, Ryan “Reav3” Mireles, the new Darkin champion is stuck in a dagger and will be classified as an assassin.
The next champion will be the Darkin team’s first arrival since Kayn was launched in 2017.
According to League lore, the Darkin is a species of ascended God-Warriors who were damaged by the horrors of the Void War and consequently practiced blood magic on themselves. Fortunately, mages discovered a way to lock them within their own weapons, putting an end to their atrocities during the Darkin War.
After thousands of years, some of the last Darkin, including Aatrox, Varus, Rhaast, and maybe the next champion, have escaped.
The new Darkin champion will be an assassin. All Darkin champions in League use their own unique weapon as a means of the holder for their Darkin essence: Kayn with his scythe, Aatrox with his sword, Varus with his bow, and the new Assassin with his dagger.
The Darkin are one of League’s mysteries about which fans have been asking for additional information. Riot may opt to reveal more backstory on the fallen champions with the future advent of the new dagger champion.
