Riot has promised a fix for the game and has approached players in order to properly detect the bug
League of Legends is filled with bugs since its beginnings in 2009, and it’s no secret that Riot is working hard with each patch to remove as many bugs as possible.
Players of League of Legends have recently reported numerous FPS issues, with the game’s performance underperforming after five minutes. Although League is not the most powerful graphics game available, performance issues do exist. It’s becoming an increasingly serious problem, and Riot attempting to address it.
According to a post on League’s subreddit, the bug typically appears during the early game—from the fifth to the tenth minute—and causes your FPS to either stay low or act unstable. Because Riot is unable to identify this bug, they are encouraging players to try to identify the source of the problem.
Players experiencing performance issues in League of Legends are urged to submit in their PC specs as well as some other data so that the developers can fix the problem as soon as possible. Information, such as CPU and GPU specifications, GPU driver version, and reproduction rate, would be welcomed.
In addition, players can also answer the following questions:
- What overlays are you running (Blitz etc)?
- Did running the game in DX9 mode help? (You can do this via settings/Game/Prefer DX9 Legacy Mode)
- Did running with SMT/Hyperthreading turned off help? Y/N
The estimated fix for League of Legends’ FPS glitch has not yet been released, but the more data the devs have, the faster they’ll find out the cause.
In the meantime, if you’re having trouble with performance, consider lowering your in-game specs or deactivating any the overlays application.
