Riot reveals new redesigned Summoner’s Cup for Worlds 2022

The Summoner’s Cup, the official trophy of the League of Legends World Championship, now has a new look, according to Riot Games.

The new Summoner’s Cup shifts away from the traditional Cup’s rounded, more bulbous appearance and toward a streamlined, more contemporary one. The Summoner’s Cup is now more angular overall, with many of the former spherical characteristics of the trophy being swapped out for sharp, linear characteristics.

The cup’s base now has the names of previous Worlds champions engraved into it, which is the most obvious new improvement. The new cup’s base features engravings of the names of the world winners and their complete squads, securing their place in League esports history. All of the game’s champions, from Fnatic in 2011 until Edward Gaming in 2021, have their names inscribed on the Cup.

The Cup also has five additional silver pipes attached to the middle of the trophy. The logos for each of the five League of Legends positions are shown on the five pipes, reinforcing the idea of “five unified as one,” as is referenced in the new Cup’s announcement trailer.

Tiffany & Co., a jewelry company, collaborated on the redesign of the Summoner’s Cup. The Silver Dragon Cup for the LPL, which was unveiled last season, was also created by the company.

This year’s League World Championship will mark the debut of the Summoner’s Cup. Beginning on September 20 with the release of Patch 12.18, The Cup will also be visible in-game. The Summoner’s Cup makeover was first exposed on the League PBE through a ward skin.

The League of Legends World Championship will start on September 29 and the grand finals will take place on November 5 with players having the opportunity to lift the Summoner’s Cup.
